Work can have a big impact on how you feel day-to-day and at times your mental health may affect your work.

Essential guides for employees and managers, Mind’s Wellness Action Plans have been designed to support us all to manage our mental health and wellbeing at work.

What is a Wellness Action Plan?

A Wellness Action Plan is a free, personalised, practical tool we can all use, whether we have a mental health problem or not. It can help us identify what keeps us well at work, what causes us to become unwell, and what support can help us if we experience poor mental health.

How do they help?

If you are a manager, completing a Wellness Action Plan with each of your team members can help start conversations about how best to support their mental health. They are a useful tool for employees to share how they prefer to be supported by their manager.

Having a clear plan which outlines practical steps to take when we’re struggling at work helps us to get the support we need. This, in turn, leads to greater productivity, better performance and increased job satisfaction.

What if I am working from home?

Throughout the last two years, our working arrangements have seen a lot of change. With this in mind, Mind have expanded their templates to include versions for people working remotely or doing hybrid working, as well as those only working in a physical workplace.

Mind’s Workplace Wellbeing team provides guidance and support for employers on how to implement a comprehensive approach to managing staff mental health, including how to promote the wellbeing of staff, tackle the causes of work-related mental health problems and support staff who are experiencing a mental health problem.

These tools are in a series of resources aimed at supporting staff mental health. To read Mind’s other free workplace resources, take a look at the Mind website.
