SensorySafe™ Programme

Creating Neuroaffirming Environments Through Practical Standards, Assessment and Continuous Improvement

The SensorySafe™ Programme is EventWell’s framework for helping events, venues, campuses, workplaces, schools and community spaces create environments that are safer, more inclusive and more neuroaffirming for neurodivergent people.

Built from lived experience, operational delivery and years of supporting thousands of attendees, the programme moves beyond traditional accessibility approaches to focus on something often overlooked:

Psychological safety.

Because inclusion is not simply about access.

It is about creating environments where people feel safe enough to participate as themselves.

The SensorySafe™ Programme combines self-assessment, benchmarking, guidance, training and quality standards to help organisations understand where they are today and identify practical steps towards creating genuinely neuroaffirming experiences.

Whether you are just beginning your journey or already embedding neuroinclusive practices, the programme provides a clear pathway for continual improvement.

Neuroinclusion Maturity Index™ (NMI™)

Understand Where You Are Today

The Neuroinclusion Maturity Index™ (NMI™) is the starting point for organisations beginning their SensorySafe™ journey.

This structured self-assessment helps organisers and venues understand their current level of neuroinclusive maturity.

The NMI™ highlights strengths, identifies gaps and helps organisations understand where opportunities for improvement exist.

NMI™ defines where you are today.

It is the foundation from which progress begins.

The QSSS™ Framework (Quality Sensory Safety & Supervision Standard)

Defining What Good Looks Like

QSSS™ (Quality Sensory Safety & Supervision Standards) is the quality framework that sits at the heart of the SensorySafe™ Programme.

Built around five core pillars:

  • Governance & Leadership
  • Communication & Information
  • Environment & Design
  • Safety, Support & Supervision
  • Experience, Feedback & Continuous Improvement

QSSS™ provides a practical framework for creating neuroaffirming environments that are safe, consistent and accountable.

Originally developed to address safeguarding and supervision standards within quiet and sensory spaces, QSSS™ has evolved into a wider framework for assessing the whole attendee experience.

The framework recognises that neuroaffirming environments are not created through a single intervention, room or checklist.

They are created through a coordinated approach that considers every stage of the journey, from first communication through to post-event feedback.

QSSS™ defines what good looks like.

Through the SensorySafe™ Programme, organisations can work towards, achieve and continuously improve against the framework over time.
